I just would like to sell all my collectible stuff in one sale. So, if I'm understanding the selling points of "Mystery Boxes" correctly I can sell one, as long as the descriptions identify the type of items that will be inside the box, but not necessarily have to list them per item, per current value, or condition.

Is that right? Consider what will happen if the buyer is unhappy with the contents for what they paid. You cannot control what they're going to pay.

You can barely control what they're going to expect. You may get negative feedback that Ebay will not remove because it is the buyer's opinion.

These types of listings were disallowed in the past because it sometimes causes problems and issues with transactions. They can say its broken or has a scratch.

They will get a full refund, you have to give, or you get a not seller resolved defect. Or a return, if the value is small, they will not return, if the value is large they may switch send rocks or a duped envelope with nothing but tracking.

For small value you need to rely on the honesty and good will of the buyer, not to open a case, not to find any scratch, and to hope the item will not break down after some weeks.

I have sold "mystery bag" electronic junk parts, like grams. As these are good value I got away with it, the buyers are happy with them, dont open the case.

I sold many of these! So the photo is "representative". You need to explain that it is representative only, and what they receive is random, things like shown but not exactly.

You need a good description what this mystery sale is about, so they get an idea what they approx may receive.

Explain why you dont sell them individually too few to list, left over from ended listings, too difficult to describe the individual items.

So this could be like random LEGO parts, or a set amount of coins, product samples and stuff like that. Ive done it with junk electrical parts of all kinds, grams for 6 dollar, and they arent actually bad, just couldnt sell individually too much work.

I still have these mystery lots on sale though I dont use the word mystery box. But thats what they are. I use representative photo, and explain each lot is random, I explain the kind of items theyre going to receive.

The price is not bad so it works out. With some effort and thinking into it, I have been able to sell many kilograms of electrical parts, which otherwise I couldnt sell.

If you find the right ratio, take suitable picture and advertize it suitably, give your customers a good overall deal, you can make surprising amounts with money with these kinds of items you were thinking they are too bad to sell, junk, or rubbish.
